Huckleberry LogoHuckleberry House Children’s Center is a provincially licensed daycare center that includes Preschool for ages 3 and 4, a group daycare, an Infant and Toddler room, a Cool Kids Program, and the Strong Start Program operated by North Island Community Services.

 Qualified licensed personnel provide and supervise learning experiences for the children, in terms of fine and gross motor skill development through coloring, painting, crafts, gym time, and outdoor play. During the school year, the center provides opportunities for students from North Island Secondary school to complete their job experience training. We also support practicum students taking the ECE course.

Huckleberry House is open Monday – Friday 7am – 5:30pm
Pre-School for 4yr is Monday, Wednesday and Fridays 9am – 11:30am and 12:30pm – 3:00
Pre-school for 3yr is Tuesday & Thursday 9am – 11:30am
Registration packages are available at the Centre.

Cool Kids Program is an after School Program for children who attend grades 1-6. This program provides a wide variety of enjoyable activities following school hours. The program includes free time, play, art, crafts, homework assistance, indoor, and outdoor activities. Our Cool kids program runs throughout the day during the summer months. During the summer months, activities such as field trips, swimming and picnicing occur.

(This program is available on pro-D days.)
Cool Kids is open SeptemberJune 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Summer hours are July 1August 31 7:00am- 5:30pm

Strong Start

Strong Start is a free school based early literacy program for children under the age of five and their parents, or caregivers. This program is a partnership between School District #85 and Huckleberry House Children’s Centre. The program is facilitated by provincially licensed Early Childhood Educators from Huckleberry House Children’s Centre and is funded by the Ministry of Education. The program operates five days a week at Cheslakees Elementary School.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday – 9am -12pm, Wednesday from 1pm – 4pm, Wednesday in Woss 9am - 12pm, Port Alice Tuesdays & Thursday 9am – 11am.
